So Mal Winter and the Last Titan is finished. Finally. It took years longer than expected, but I think I improved as a writer, and storyteller. I've learnt so much and feel like there is still so much left to know.
The question quickly becomes what am I writing next? Let's talk next projects...
Although I certainly can't promise an update every month, as I find more readers I want to be a bit more open to some of the works I have going on. Here is a snapshot of my next projects as of now:
As you can see, I've currently got 3 projects on the go, a novella and 2 novels. You can read more about each project below.
Georgia and the Seven Nightmares is a short novella, a prequel tale set in the world of the Cloud Runners. Following their surrender in 1945, Japan was occupied by the United States military. This story follows a young girl plagued by Nightmares and her own hatred and bigotry, who learns that the monsters in her dreams are very real, and if she can open her heart, she can not only get a good night's rest, but help a suffering people.
This novella is expected to be about 20,000-25,000 words in length, and include only seven chapters. This prequel will be a great starting point to get into the world of the Cloud Runners, or a great middle book between Mal Winter and the Last Titan and Mal Winter and the Lucid Eye.
RIght now I intend to make Georgia and the Seven Nightmares free as an ebook, and if there is enough interest I might release a limited edition paperback. I'm currently aiming for a January/February release. I've broken down the main character arc and chapter events, I'm still doing some research into the time period and pushing through with the first chapters.
Seeds of Equilibrium predates even the stories of Mal Winter. In 2008, I actually had released this story to alpha readers, where I got some very positive feedback, but the size and scale of this story and my frustration in my own writing craft forced me to shelf the book. But I'm happy to say I'm currently in the process of rewriting this book.
This is the first book in the Lydaer + Kain series, which is a sci-fi fantasy epic where our heroes grow into legends. This series is about two brothers prophesied to determine the fate of mankind; one is destined to destroy the universe, the other destined to save it...but only one will succeed. The story starts when Lydaer and Kain, both ten years old, long since separated and unknowing of each others exists, and unaware of their fates.
The last drat I had worked on reached 98,000 words in length, I expect this draft to exceed that number.
Last, but certainly not least is the next Mal Winter book; currently titled Mal Winter and the Lucid Eye. I'm still in early drafting for this, but it is shaping up nicely. I plan to have this book completely plotted out by the time Georgia and the Seven Nightmares first draft is done!
As this book is still so early in development, I won't say much except that Mal Winter finds himself in Japan....
